About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrologist to join our team at Georgia Southern University. As a Hydrologist, you will play a critical role in water availability projects, utilizing your expertise to assess and model surface and groundwater systems of Southeast Georgia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Measure water quantity and characterize flow, volume, transport properties, and saltwater intrusion
  • Develop and implement surface and groundwater models to simulate, analyze, and predict aquifer or stream behavior
  • Predict water supplies and forecast floods and droughts
  • Contribute to the preparation of research proposals and technical reports
  • Analyze and interpret the results and prepare and present project findings to sponsors, regulatory agencies, and the public
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in water resource management projects
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A master's degree in hydrology or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two years of progressively higher-level graduate education or one year of appropriate professional experience in hydrology
  • A sound working knowledge of the principles of hydrology and the ability to independently perform moderately difficult and responsible scientific work
Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A doctoral degree in Hydrology or a related field
  • Two or more years of experience in groundwater modeling
  • Familiarity with local and state regulations related to groundwater management
