About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Technician to join our team at Resource Logistics, Inc. This role is perfect for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and possess excellent communication skills.

Job Summary

The Health Information Technician will be responsible for compiling and maintaining accurate and up-to-date health information records. This includes reviewing medical reports, organizing files, and typing health information forms. Additionally, the successful candidate will provide information from health information records after determining its appropriateness and coordinate with other clients concerning health information records procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile and maintain accurate and up-to-date health information records
  • Review medical reports for completeness and organize files
  • Type health information forms, including charts for new admissions and requests for specific reports or certificates
  • Compile and type statistical reports, such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay
  • File reports into health information records and retrieve records in the filing system
  • Provide information from health information records after determining its appropriateness
  • Coordinate with other clients concerning health information records procedures
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of health information technology, JCAH and Medicare/Medicaid regulations governing medical record keeping, requirements governing confidentiality of patient information, and medical terminology
  • Skill in using typewriters and/or word processors and calculators
  • Ability to deal with problems involving few variables within a familiar context, write routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures, proofread medical reports, recognize errors, and gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things
Education and Experience

We require a minimum of 3 courses or 9 months' experience in records management, 1 course or 3 months' experience in medical terminology, and 1 course or 3 months' experience in typing. Alternatively, we accept the equivalent of these qualifications.
