Position Overview:

CDM Smith is seeking a motivated individual to contribute to our operations in a dynamic role that encompasses various responsibilities tailored to project specifications and timelines. This position is ideal for recent graduates eager to embark on a career in the construction sector with a firm that prioritizes long-term career development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the review of project documentation, preparation of deliverables, and participation in pre-bid site assessments during the pursuit phase.
  2. Evaluate intricate proposals to determine overall project costs, while researching labor, materials, and equipment expenses.
  3. Develop initial schedules for engineering and construction phases.
  4. Establish General Conditions in accordance with bidding document requirements, including necessary personnel, temporary facilities, security, and safety protocols.
  5. Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders to ensure timely and safe project execution.
  6. Oversee the delivery and installation of materials and equipment, coordinating with field personnel and vendors.
  7. Prepare and review submittals of varying complexity, distribute construction documents to field teams, and address inquiries.
  8. Supervise project activities of basic to moderate complexity, interpreting specifications and drawings for site supervisors.
  9. Conduct inspections to uphold Quality Control (QC) standards across project sites.
  10. Work alongside Health and Safety professionals to assess safety performance metrics of potential subcontractors and vendors during procurement.
  11. Assist the Project Manager in completing all contract-required deliverables during project close-out, including final record drawings and as-builts.
  12. Ensure all close-out documentation is properly recorded and approved, and collaborate with the team to finalize inspections and client satisfaction.
  13. Depending on project requirements and following appropriate training, collaborate with the project manager and VDC team to establish project capability needs and VDC plans.
  14. Facilitate solutions through teamwork with design and project teams utilizing VDC, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and traditional collaboration methods.
  15. Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required. No prior experience is necessary. Domestic and/or international travel may be necessary based on specific duties and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
