Nuclear Medicine Technologist Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in preparing equipment and patients for Nuclear Medicine procedures, safely and accurately performing nuclear scans, and maintaining a safe environment to deliver high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare equipment and patients for Nuclear Medicine procedures
  • Safely and accurately perform nuclear scans as ordered and directed
  • Maintain a safe environment to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Prepare radioactive isotopes and calculate specific amounts and types for each examination
  • Operate radioisotope devices for calibrating isotopes and recording images
  • Assay quality of isotopes purchased and monitor for any possible contamination
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working condition
  • Maintain records of tests conducted, test results, and use and disposition of isotopes
  • Attend all meetings and in-services as required
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and handle PHI appropriately
  • Abide by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct
  • Maintain a safe work environment and report safety concerns

Requirements:

  • Completion of a formal nuclear medicine technology program
  • Current State of Texas license and current registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine and/or CNMT registry
  • Basic Life Support certification within 60 days of employment

Working Conditions:

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will work in a hospital setting, with medium strength required to position patients for examination or lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking. Occasional reaching, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, and twisting may be required. Visual and hearing acuity are necessary, as well as depth perception to examine exposed film for pertinent details.
