Job Summary:

William Charles Construction, a leading heavy civil construction company, is seeking an experienced Bridge Superintendent to join their team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of bridges and other infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to job sites in Southern IL and surrounding states to oversee construction operations
  • Coordinate with project managers and area managers to review project scope and ensure timely completion
  • Set up job sites prior to project start, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are in place
  • Communicate effectively with IDOT, inspectors, subcontractors, and owners to ensure smooth project execution
  • Ensure all work is completed according to specifications and project plans
  • Coordinate subcontractor operations and manage local union relationships
  • Supervise on-site employees and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies
  • Generate a two-week look-ahead schedule, including activities, equipment, personnel, and material needs
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensure equipment checklists are completed, and guarantee required materials and equipment are on site
  • Oversee maximum equipment utilization and ensure work is done in compliance with OSHA standards and company policies

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Bridge Superintendent or related field
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to job sites and work in a fast-paced environment
