Job Overview

UC Davis is seeking a Recent Lecturer to join our Sociology Department. This is a one-year, non-renewable appointment that offers new Ph.D.'s from the UC Davis Sociology Department the opportunity to apply for teaching Sociology courses exclusively. The primary purpose of this appointment is to help recent Ph.D.'s with demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching to become more competitive in the increasingly challenging and difficult job market. By affording additional teaching experience and time for research while applying for tenure-track jobs, these positions will provide important opportunities for professional development as recent Ph.D.'s transition from graduate school to permanent positions.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in teaching and an advanced degree in Sociology or a related discipline. We will prioritize recent and current graduate students who have worked closely with the Sociology program at Davis.

The Department of Sociology is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, LGBTQ community members, and others who demonstrate the ability to help us achieve our vision of a diverse and inclusive community.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, or other protected categories covered by the UC nondiscrimination policy.
