Job Overview

VocoVision is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team. As a remote TVI, you will play a vital role in empowering students with visual impairments through innovative education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine students' educational needs and develop tailored Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments, including braille instruction, orientation and mobility training, and assistive technology.
  • Provide virtual instruction and support through synchronous and asynchronous learning platforms.
  • Collaborate with educational teams, including parents, caregivers, and other professionals, to support student learning and development.
  • Monitor student progress, collect data, and maintain accurate records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Attend and actively participate in virtual team meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Visual Impairments or a related field.
  • Valid Minnesota Teaching License with endorsement in Visual Impairments.
  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (CTVI) preferred.
  • Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, including proficiency in braille instruction and assistive technology.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with visual impairments.
  • Comfortable using technology for instruction and communication (Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.).
  • Must be comfortable as an independent contractor.
