Position Summary
The Law Enforcement Officer is tasked with ensuring a secure and healthy environment for all visitors, patients, and staff. This role involves monitoring the surroundings to identify potential risks, alerting the appropriate personnel, and implementing corrective measures. The officer primarily remains on standby in the Emergency Room to deter and prevent any acts of violence. They will also inform the Security Specialist on duty when any action is taken.
Key Responsibilities
- Unless responding to an emergency or requested elsewhere by the Security Specialist, the officer will remain on standby in the Emergency Room, documenting activities as per established protocols. Immediate action will be taken to prevent harm or injury to the public and staff when necessary.
- Prepare written reports for any serious incidents or unusual circumstances encountered during duty.
- Enforce local regulations and hospital policies concerning security.
- Exhibit a positive service-oriented attitude towards the Hospital, maintaining good public relations with employees, patients, and visitors, while promoting the mission and philosophy of the Hospital.
- Operate communication equipment as required by assigned duties.
- Respond to non-emergency situations when the presence of a Law Enforcement Officer is requested in other areas of the hospital.
- Act promptly in emergency situations such as fires and duress incidents.
- Encourage security awareness among hospital staff whenever feasible.
- Demonstrate the ability to access various areas of the Hospital and grounds, responding to emergencies as needed, and exerting a high level of physical effort to manage violent or combative individuals.
Employment Qualifications
Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited police training academy and hold sworn law enforcement officer status with police powers.
