Division Chief of Surgical Oncology and Regents Chair in Surgery

Tulane University School of Medicine's Department of Surgery invites applications and nominations for the position of Division Chief of Surgical Oncology and Regents Chair in Surgery. Faculty candidates should be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or higher and have completed a recognized Surgical Oncology fellowship. Successful candidates should have experience building cancer programs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and research productivity in an area of expertise. As Division Chief, the responsibilities will include working toward goals in each mission:
- Administrative: Establish processes and practices within the division that are transparent, fair and focused on faculty development
- Education: Manage educational activities of the division in alignment with the support of the mission of the SoM, and the Department of Surgery
- Research: Engage in and manage cancer research activities of the division in alignment with clinical strengths
- Clinical: Strategic growth planning and oversight of the divisional financial goals
The Regents Chair in Surgery is a restricted endowed fund, the income of which will be used to support the chair holder.
The selected candidate for the Regents Chair will be held by an oncologist of superior ability and national prominence who hold a strong interest, active participation and commitment to the education of fellows, residents and medical students.
Qualifications:Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Candidates should have satisfactorily completed a training program in general surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and be board certified and eligible for licensure in Louisiana, with the training to qualify for academic appointment at the Associate Professor level. Fellowship training is required in a fellowship program approved by the Society of Surgical Oncology.
