Water Quality Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Quality Specialist to lead our cross-connection control program across the state of Illinois. This role will assist related compliance programs to ensure continual meeting of all applicable environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the cross-connection control program across the state in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Assist other regulatory compliance programs as needed.
- Coordinate cross connection inspections and conduct on-premises inspections to evaluate hazards and have them abated and/or protected by installing approved backflow devices.
- Provide technical guidance to operations in dealing with water quality related issues.
- Recommend treatment and procedures for maintaining approved Water Quality.
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulatory permits.
- Assist local, State, and Federal regulatory agencies during inspections.
- Respond to Water Quality and environmental compliance problems, taking appropriate corrective action including documentation to advise management.
- Ensure that customer complaints or inquiries are properly addressed to attempt to resolve any issues.
- Assure that policies, programs, standards of performance and approved objectives related to water quality and environmental compliance are adhered to.
- Support water quality activities related to the Environmental Management Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations are continually met.
- Plan, prepare and control the portion of the financial plan related to area of responsibility.
- Conduct special projects and prepare reports.
- Bachelor or equivalent degree.
- Minimum four (4) years' experience in water, and/or laboratory operations.
- 30% to 40% within state of Illinois. Typically day travel, occasional overnight.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Current IEPA Cross-Connection Control Device Inspector Certification preferred.
- Illinois Plumbing license preferred.
- Office Environment as well as on premise inspections.
