Job Summary

Boston College is seeking a skilled HVAC Mechanic to join our team. As a HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, repair, and installation of refrigeration, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, and their controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance using a computerized maintenance work order system.
  • Provide written records of work completed on a daily basis.
  • Communicate with supervisors and other personnel as needed.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three to five years of recent full-time experience as an HVAC Mechanic working for a licensed contractor or maintenance organization.
  • Massachusetts Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Universal Recovery License.
  • Proficient knowledge and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and controls.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, blueprints, and schematics related to HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work from written or verbal instructions.
  • Skills in the use of equipment and tools used in the trade.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Ability to communicate orally, read, comprehend, write, reason, and analyze, and perform calculations.
  • Ability to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, climb, push/pull, kneel, handle objects (manual dexterity), reach above shoulder level, and use fine finger movements.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sheet Metal License.
  • Oil Burner Mechanic's license.
  • Experience with and an understanding of Direct Digital Controls (DDC), preferably Johnson Controls and/or Schneider energy management systems.
