Position Overview:

The Nutritional Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Dietary Manager and Cook in the preparation and delivery of meals to residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of food items, including beverages, salads, desserts, and other menu items as directed, ensuring adherence to dietary requirements.
  • Assemble meal trays according to menu specifications, resident preferences, and dietary orders, while adhering to established timelines.
  • Handle food in compliance with safety standards, including proper storage, labeling, and disposal practices.
  • Ensure food is presented in an appealing manner and conduct taste tests to maintain quality and flavor.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate food temperatures during preparation and service, documenting as required.
  • Deliver meals and snacks to designated areas within the facility.
  • Wash and sanitize dishes following established protocols, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
  • Perform cleaning tasks as assigned, utilizing the correct cleaning agents and following safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring all food service equipment is in proper working order.
  • Complete tasks within designated time frames.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • A minimum of a 10th-grade education is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, and staff.
  • Capability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions related to dietary operations.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, walking, and standing throughout the workday. The work environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential hazards. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
