Job Overview
Position Summary: The Healthcare Support Specialist is responsible for performing administrative and clinical support tasks under the guidance of the practice manager. This role includes duties such as scheduling patient appointments, managing phone communications, registering patients, updating demographic information, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments. Clinical responsibilities are carried out under the supervision of a physician or mid-level provider, which may involve obtaining and documenting vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examinations, drawing blood, and administering medications as instructed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general office tasks including patient registration, medical record management, scheduling, and telephone communications.
- Conduct clinical duties such as rooming patients, taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and preparing patients for examinations.
- Provide care in a safe and effective manner while maintaining accurate medical records.
- Exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate staffing needs.
- Maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
- Facilitate timely patient and visitor-related activities with courtesy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical terminology knowledge is essential. Graduation from a medical assistant program is preferred, but training is available for qualified candidates. Certification is preferred or a willingness to obtain certification.
Experience: Previous experience in a medical environment is preferred, particularly as a medical assistant.
Other Requirements: Proficiency in computer tasks is necessary. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Working Conditions: Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues is expected. Appropriate protective measures are required for tasks involving potential exposure.
Physical Activity: The role may involve lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, climbing, squatting, bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and walking.
