English Composition Instructor

Join the Faculty at the University of Saint Mary

The University of Saint Mary is on the lookout for a dedicated Instructor to guide students in English Composition and Literature as part of our General Education initiative within the Prison Education Programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-person classes covering Principles of English, English Composition I, and English Composition II
  • Design and implement a relevant curriculum tailored to the courses assigned
  • Provide constructive assessments and feedback to students in a timely manner
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive educational atmosphere
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records and ensure timely submission of grades
  • Engage in mandatory training sessions and faculty meetings
  • Stay informed about advancements in teaching technologies
  • Perform additional duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in English or a related field
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience at the collegiate level
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A genuine passion for supporting prison rehabilitation efforts
  • Alignment with the university's mission and core values
  • Experience in Communications is advantageous
  • Prior experience working in a correctional facility is preferred
  • Must be able to pass a background check
