Job Overview

Position: Production Supervisor

Location: Detroit, MI

Employment Type: Contract Position

Shift: Day Shift – Compensation: up to $38.46 per hour (based on proven work history)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe and efficient working environment while managing a team of approximately 30-40 hourly employees.
  • Diagnose and resolve daily equipment challenges by identifying and addressing process, system, and mechanical failures.
  • Set clear expectations for hourly employees and provide ongoing feedback to maintain accountability.
  • Inspire and guide team members to meet work objectives through effective coaching and direction.
  • Foster the development of team members to enhance their self-sufficiency in fulfilling work responsibilities.
  • Lead initiatives for process enhancement by collaborating with cross-functional teams including production, materials, maintenance, quality, and engineering.
  • Advocate for and implement lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Monitor and address productivity and output challenges within assigned departments, ensuring adherence to production targets, cycle times, and quality standards.
  • Exhibit strong leadership capabilities to motivate the production team in areas such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Performance, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Supervise hourly employees and allocate resources as necessary.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, setup, and execution of production activities, managing the distribution of materials for production.
  • Maintain labor and material requirements to fulfill the daily production schedule, overseeing the performance of production associates and coordinating with production support leaders; communicate expectations and provide training.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of production equipment.
  • Oversee process control and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with high-performance work teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative and assertiveness, along with a sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to analyze both short- and long-term objectives and make informed decisions.
  • Adaptability to change in a dynamic work environment while effectively managing resources and striving for excellence.
  • Willingness to work any shift and overtime as required.
  • Availability to work weekends as necessary.
  • Some knowledge of lean principles is advantageous.
