POSITION OVERVIEW


The primary responsibility of the Safety Operations Manager is to ensure a secure working environment for all personnel, including company staff, subcontractors, and the general public within an industrial setting.

This role involves the promotion and implementation of the company's Safety Program in collaboration with the project Superintendent, Foreman, Project Manager, and Safety Director.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engage with clients and HSE Management teams.

Advocate for and enforce policies that foster a culture of health and safety.

Organize and lead weekly safety meetings at designated locations.

Conduct inspections of specified areas for fire prevention equipment and other safety supplies.

Evaluate work environments for noise, toxic substances, and other hazards using appropriate testing equipment.

Compile reports of findings from inspections, including recommendations for corrective actions.

Communicate any observed or anticipated safety issues to relevant field personnel.

Implement and stay informed about emergency medical response protocols for jobsite injuries.

Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and report findings to management.

Propose solutions for incident causes, identify improvement opportunities, and update the safety program accordingly.

Maintain comprehensive records, including reports related to injuries, accidents, incidents, and near misses.

Keep accurate environmental issue records, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and monitoring results.

Ensure all required job-site postings are maintained.

Prepare monthly reports and statistical analyses of the project's safety performance.

Monitor and adapt to changes in compliance regulations.

Create and maintain accurate job aids for assigned duties.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
A High School Diploma or GED is required, with some college education preferred.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management or a related role is preferred.

Current certifications in first aid, CPR, and OSHA 30-hour (construction preferred) are required.

VPP certification is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Effective and professional communication skills with customers and employees at all levels.

Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Customer service-oriented mindset.

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in daily operations.

Proactive and self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.

Excellent time management skills for planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks.

Strong multitasking capabilities.

Analytical skills and mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and implementing improvements.

Attention to detail and accuracy in completing work.

Ability to work under pressure to meet departmental targets and deadlines.

Familiarity with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

A valid driver's license and insurability are required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent use of hands and arms, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching is required.

Work will take place in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Ability to move about to complete tasks or transition between worksites.

Capability to operate field equipment (e.g., ladder, shovel).

Ability to use a computer and other office machinery (e.g., calculator, copier, printer).

Repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, and/or fingers are common.

Frequent communication with team members is necessary, requiring clear information exchange.

Work may involve moving and/or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
