We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Nurse Care Specialist to join our team at Gwinnett County Public Schools. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide specialized nursing support to students with medical fragility, ensuring their safety and well-being in a school setting.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment and Documentation: Conduct thorough assessments of students' physical and psycho-social status, documenting findings and developing plans of care in collaboration with the Direct Care Nurse Facilitator.
- Medical Procedures: Perform medical procedures in compliance with the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act, as prescribed by physician/health care provider's orders.
- Health Teaching: Provide effective health teaching to students and their families, promoting healthy habits and disease prevention.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with students, families, school personnel, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
- Orientation and Mentorship: Complete all orientation activities and serve as a mentor to newly hired or substitute Direct Care Nurses.
- Licensure and Certification: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Georgia.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing.
- Experience: Three years of nursing experience required.
The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties and may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions.
