Geotechnical and Civil Engineering Market Development Specialist

METER Group is seeking a highly skilled professional to drive market development and growth in the geotechnical and civil engineering sectors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil and geotechnical engineering, with experience in sales and marketing. They will be responsible for shaping go-to-market initiatives, developing marketing campaigns, and creating web content to connect with engineering-related industries.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of geotechnical and civil engineering instrumentation and testing, as well as experience with ASTM standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the marketing team to develop a marketing strategy and messaging that aligns with the company's overall strategy.

The Market Development Manager will also represent client requirements to the Product Management and Research & Development teams, ensuring that those requirements are considered when scoping new product roadmaps.

This position will support the sales team in technical conversations during the consultative sales process and will help support existing clients in engineering-related markets.

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience. They will also have familiarity with ASTM standards related to geotechnical/civil/environmental engineering instrumentation and testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Product Market Manager
  • Evaluate total addressable market in target niche areas
  • Run market tests to validate ideas on market potential
  • Formulate plan for next steps to grow market impact and increase market share
  • Grow existing large customer product usage
  • Add more high-value customers
  • Propose possible complementary technology (both hardware and software) to grow market share

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or Bachelor's degree + equivalent experience
  • Unsaturated soil mechanics coursework or experience
  • Familiarity with ASTM standards related to geotechnical/civil/environmental engineering instrumentation and testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience post-graduation in a related field
  • Experience in sales and marketing
  • Experience with ASTM standards development/committee service

Work Environment:

Typical office environment with computer workstation. Some travel to client sites required.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds over short distances as needed. Sitting for extended periods of time, bending, twisting, and other movement consistent with office environments.
