Heavy Truck Mechanic Job Description

As a Heavy Truck Mechanic at Mid-Atlantic Waste Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy trucks. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for working with heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with heavy trucks, including hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine problems.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to research and complete repairs, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Partner with the service manager to learn new skills and stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • 2 years' experience with hydraulic pumps, cylinders, valves, and hoses.
  • 2 years' MIG and stick welding experience.
  • 2 years' automotive electrical experience.
  • 2 years' diesel engine repair experience (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach.
  • Ability to lift and move more than 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Must pass a DOT physical including drug screening.
  • Must have own tools.
