Job Title: UPG Model Maker

Join Johnson Controls as a skilled Model Maker in our Engineering Lab team, part of the Unitary Products Group (UPG). In this role, you will work on designing, testing, manufacturing, and assembling heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment for the light commercial and residential markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate sheet metal and copper parts based on engineering specifications.
  • Operate and maintain fabrication equipment, including Press Brake, Amada, etc.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure all parts meet specifications and standards.
  • Perform repairs and modifications to existing components as needed.
  • Follow established safety procedures, conduct audits, and maintain a clean work area.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent combined with vocational technical training in Sheet Metal Fabrication.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and skills in sheet metal fabrication, preferably in HVAC or related industries.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, fabrication machinery, and capable of operating a forklift.
  • Ability to lift equipment, compressors, units, motors, sheet metal parts etc. up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, as well as general computer proficiency.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent team collaboration and communication skill.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations – percentages, fractions, average, geometric calculations, etc.
