The Performing Arts Department at MASS MoCA is looking to expand its roster of skilled On-Call/Temporary/Seasonal Festival Generalists to support the execution and management of large-scale events and performances throughout the year.
Position DetailsThis role is a temporary/seasonal hourly position that collaborates with the full-time production and festival teams to meet operational needs. The schedule will vary based on project requirements, with assignments lasting from 1-2 days or potentially longer for specific initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesUnder the guidance of the Performing Arts staff, the Festival Generalist will assist in ensuring smooth logistics and enriching experiences for both artists and audiences during festivals and concerts at MASS MoCA. Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting production efforts
- Facilitating festival operations
- Providing artist services
- Managing front-of-house activities
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A strong work ethic, craftsmanship, and practical problem-solving skills
- Effective communication abilities with colleagues, collaborators, and artists
- A high level of professionalism when interacting with visiting artists and staff
- Preferred: A valid driver's license, with the ability to drive and manage loading/unloading tasks for various trucks
- Experience in working with artists to bring their vision to life
Conditions for this position include:
- Working outdoors in potentially inclement weather for extended periods
- A flexible schedule, including availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays for events and programs
- Possible work in dimly lit areas and exposure to strobe lights or other photo-sensitive situations
Candidates must be able to:
- Stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods with limited breaks
- Use hands for handling, reaching, and climbing
- Lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds and manage heavy objects as needed
- Operate mechanical lifts and power tools safely
- Drive a motor vehicle as required
- Navigate between buildings and campus grounds, including stairs
MASS MoCA encourages all employees to stay current with their COVID-19 vaccinations.
This is a non-exempt position with a minimum starting rate of $16.25/hour.
