Job Overview

Are you an experienced HVAC technician with a focus on commercial systems? At Reliable Heating & Air, we are looking for a dedicated Commercial HVAC Service Technician to enhance our operations. This role is vital in ensuring that our clients experience optimal climate control and energy efficiency.

Position Summary

The Commercial HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, troubleshooting issues, installing new units, and performing preventive maintenance as per customer requests or scheduled agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs and preventive maintenance on commercial HVAC systems, including cleaning filters, coils, and ducts, lubricating components, and assessing system performance for optimal functionality.
  • Install new HVAC systems, such as heating and cooling units, ductwork, and thermostats in commercial facilities.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Department and Commercial Director to ensure timely and profitable completion of installations and service tasks.
  • Diagnose and resolve various service issues, replace defective parts, and calibrate systems according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by effectively communicating with clients about their HVAC needs and offering appropriate solutions.
  • Document all installed equipment, including make, model, serial number, fuel type, and necessary measurements.
  • Understand company pricing structures and generate accurate customer invoices on-site.
  • Inform clients about potential additional services, including new systems and service contracts.
  • Adhere to OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations.
  • Travel to various job sites and coordinate with dispatch to maintain an efficient schedule.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is well-maintained, including regular servicing and cleanliness.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • EPA Certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician.
  • Strong technical skills and problem-solving abilities for complex HVAC systems.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained on additional equipment for year-round work.
  • Experience with commercial application RTUs, ERUs, WSHPs, VRFs, PIUs, and VAVs.
  • Familiarity with brands such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, LG, and Samsung mini splits.
  • Experience with chillers, boilers, and cooling towers is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for emergency repairs.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • NATE certification and experience with Service Titan are a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and advanced mobile applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical strength to perform tasks such as walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, including non-climate-controlled environments.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends on a rotating basis for emergency service needs.
  • Visual ability to differentiate between colors accurately.
  • Proficiency in using smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices.
