Job Summary:

The Plastics Tooling Project Engineer is responsible for leading design and manufacturing initiatives, managing cost saving strategies, and driving quality initiatives while mitigating risk of critical components from suppliers.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to ensure seamless project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages new supplier qualification and alternate material qualification.
  • Performs supplier quality audits & tooling audits.
  • Leads transfer of product lines, tool transfers, equipment transfers, both internal and external.
  • Drives cost saving projects to achieve productivity targets, process standardization, and best practices.
  • Develops innovative manufacturing processes & solutions to reduce costs and improve product quality.
  • Implements material testing and material flow analysis.
  • Provides NPI support and leads design for manufacturing initiatives.
  • Establishes partnerships with internal and external resources.
  • Supports customer complaint resolution.
  • Assists in application engineering efforts to improve product performance.
  • Establishes application testing protocol and processes to quantify product performance capabilities.
  • Manages day-to-day operational measuring and monitoring of projects and scope.
  • Communicates project status and escalates/resolves issues that impede deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that action item owners are managing recovery plans as applicable when commitments are not met.
  • Provides weekly product development status meetings identifying project phase, tasks completed, and project specs.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Develops an understanding of the products.
  • Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that projects are organized, and deadlines are met.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years' experience in injection molding process and tooling development, productivity, and cost savings strategies in a diversified manufacturing/distribution environment.
  • Ability to develop process improvements particularly with manufacturing of plastic parts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently and complete deadlines on time.
  • Strong project management skills and able to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication with internal and external parties of all levels of an organization, Suppliers, and Customers.
  • Understands how to communicate company-sensitive information tactfully.
  • Problem-solving skills including root cause analysis.
  • Hands-on leader with good attention to detail.
  • Embraces a customer-first approach.
  • BA/BS in Engineering or related field.
  • Local Travel 20% miles per week.

Work Arrangement:

Onsite

Salary Range:

$90,000.00 - $105,000.00
