The primary objective of this role is to act as the Information Technology Consultant, focusing on program and project planning, budgeting for development, acquisitions, and coordination as necessary for the advancement of IT systems or services required to meet mission objectives.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate requirements and formulate strategies for enhancing IT applications.
- Serve as a policy advisor to users of information technology.
- Support contracting processes and assist in budget formulation.
- Participate in meetings and deliver presentations.
- Coordinate efforts to achieve project goals.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the standards set forth by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A).
Specialized Experience:Candidates must possess IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. Additionally, one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent is required, which includes:
- Applying a comprehensive range of IT principles, concepts, and methods to assess organizational IT business needs.
- Conducting feasibility studies and cost analysis, developing investment strategies, and recommending optimal actions along with viable alternatives.
- Implementing organizational acquisition requirements and budgetary strategies to identify needs and adjust IT funding priorities.
A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in fields such as computer science, engineering, information systems management, or related areas is acceptable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Your qualifications will be assessed based on your expertise in the following areas:
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT principles and methodologies.
- Understanding of organizational policy and planning processes to develop IT policies.
- Familiarity with budgetary processes and performance data analysis to support IT requirements.
- Expertise in systems architecture and integration techniques.
- Ability to analyze complex technology scenarios and provide informed recommendations through documentation and presentations.
- Awareness of technological advancements and their implications for future organizational needs.
Credit will be given for relevant unpaid or part-time experience, including volunteer work, which helps build critical competencies and skills applicable to this role.
All candidates must comply with the requirement for direct deposit as a condition of employment.
