Job Overview:
The Senior Laboratory Application Expert is responsible for leveraging a background in Medical Technology to engage in research and development within the System Verification Labs. This role involves conducting comprehensive system-level evaluations and verification testing, alongside software workflow assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform testing on newly developed or modified hematology analyzers, ensuring adherence to established protocols and timelines.
- Conduct system verification tests that encompass customer workflows, quality control measures, calibration processes, and analysis of whole blood samples.
- Verify that products meet all specified requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with software and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve product performance challenges, particularly those affecting customer applications.
- Utilize statistical methods to analyze data, interpret technical information, and document any issues in a timely manner.
- Draft and maintain procedural documentation and reports, ensuring meticulous record-keeping of test procedures and outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, actively participating in design review sessions.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and policies within the laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of experience, or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP/AMT preferred).
- Familiarity with general laboratory operations.
- Experience in hematology, including CBC, 5-part differential, and result review.
- Proficient in executing and reviewing decision rules, including reflex and rerun test orders.
- Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) for test order processing and result release.
- Understanding of basic laboratory statistics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word); knowledge of data analysis software such as JMP is advantageous.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities.
- Able to work collaboratively within a team setting.
- Preferred: Experience with Beckman Coulter DxH Hematology instruments and familiarity with Remisol middleware and LIS configuration and troubleshooting.
