Mountain View, California, United States Dusty Robotics Full time

About Us:
Dusty Robotics is at the forefront of developing robotic tools tailored for the contemporary construction workforce.

In a world where construction predominantly relies on manual labor, we envision a future where skilled labor leverages robotic automation to enhance safety, efficiency, and precision in the industry.

Our goal is to create an environment where construction professionals can work without the fear of early retirement due to physical strain.

In our vision, construction teams are empowered to guide robots in performing the tedious, hazardous, and physically demanding tasks.

Our Mission:

Dusty Robotics aims to seamlessly integrate the digital realm of building design with the expertise of field operators, driving the digital evolution of the construction sector.

Our Key Product:
The FieldPrinter: a mobile printing solution that produces full-scale building layouts directly onto construction site floors.

By eliminating layout errors that can lead to costly mistakes, our technology ensures that all teams work from a unified and accurate digital model.

Your Role:
We are seeking a QA Engineer with a strong passion for rigorously testing robotic systems. This role encompasses evaluating internal software, user interfaces, and physical prototypes. If you have experience with robotics, medical devices, IoT, 3D printing, CNC machinery, or any complex mechanical products, you will thrive in this position.
Your responsibilities will include manual testing of both hardware and software components of our robots.

As a QA Engineer, you will be a vital member of the Engineering team, collaborating closely with hardware and software engineers.

You will also partner with our field operations team to identify and replicate product issues encountered during real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze functional specifications and develop comprehensive test plans for user interfaces, APIs, and robot operations.
- Evaluate new features and baseline functionalities throughout the development process to identify issues proactively.
- Refine test plans and cases based on user feedback.
- Create realistic testing environments for our robots in the laboratory.
- Conduct field testing of product releases at construction sites.
- Collaborate with the field operations team to address field issues and gather user insights.
- Manage bug tracking systems and testing/requirement management tools effectively.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Occasionally travel to deployment sites for testing new releases or peak operations.
- Perform functional testing using simulators.

Qualifications:
- Familiarity with software quality assurance processes.
- Strong planning, communication, and observational skills.
- Creative thinking for generating diverse test scenarios.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience with a degree in a STEM discipline.
- Self-driven, particularly in learning new software tools and quality assurance best practices.
- Hands-on experience testing physical products with intricate software is advantageous.
- Experience with AutoCAD or a willingness to learn is beneficial.
- Programming skills in Python or a similar language are a plus.

Why Work With Us:
By becoming part of our organization, you will play a crucial role in a rapidly growing company. We are committed to achieving significant milestones, and your contributions will be essential to our success.

We prioritize our mission and strive to eliminate distractions that hinder our progress.

To support this, we offer a flexible vacation policy, a 401k plan with employer contributions, reasonable working hours, and adaptable schedules.

We believe that our best outcomes arise when our team members are well-rested and focused on driving Dusty Robotics forward.

We value diversity and encourage applications from individuals with varied backgrounds and experiences, including those from historically underrepresented groups.

Our Commitment:
Dusty Robotics is dedicated to serving a diverse clientele from all walks of life.

We believe that our mission thrives in an environment that is welcoming, safe, and free from intimidation or harassment.

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for abusive behavior.

Work Environment:
Our offices are situated in a collaborative setting that fosters rapid communication with leadership and business teams.

While the primary work will be conducted in our office, there may be occasional travel to customer locations for field testing.
