Position Overview

The Early Head Start Teacher will play a vital role in the design and execution of a developmentally suitable educational program that delivers comprehensive quality services tailored to the unique needs of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Key Responsibilities

- Evaluate children's development and establish goals for their growth; create personalized curricula to assist children in achieving these objectives.

- Provide coaching and support to staff to ensure the effective inclusion of children with special needs in standard classroom activities.

- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and efficiently with all age groups within the infant and toddler range.

- Supervise the health, safety, and welfare of all children in center-based settings.

- Comply with safe sleep practices and health and safety protocols.

- Document children's progress and development through written observations, photographs, work samples, and assessment tools in both physical and digital formats.

- Report directly to the Child Development Specialist, Lead Teacher, and/or a member of the leadership team regarding Child Development Programming and other job responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma

Specialty/Major: 90 Hour Child Care Certification and 45 Hour Infant-Toddler Certification (CDA must be obtained within 6 months of hiring if not already held)

Licensure/Certification Required:
- 90-hour Infant and Toddler Certification - Maryland State Department of Education
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Shaken Baby Syndrome Certification
- Child Abuse and Neglect Certification
- Support in Breastfeeding
- 9-hour Communication - Maryland State Department of Education
- Teaching Strategies G.O.L.D. assessments

Preferred Licensure/Certification: Child Development Associate (CDA) Infant/Toddler Certification

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of progressive, relevant experience

Skills and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in data entry and basic use of Microsoft WORD and Outlook software
