Position SummaryAs a Building Substitute for Special Education at KIPP Victory Academy (serving grades Kindergarten through 4th), you will play a vital role in fostering students' natural curiosity. Your primary responsibility will be to support our exceptional learners through direct interventions, which may include small group pull-out sessions and co-teaching in classrooms. Collaborating closely with our Special Education team, you will ensure that our scholars receive the highest quality resources and education.
Key ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Development and Instruction:
- Adapt and implement a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum.
- Design academically challenging lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments.
- Utilize data to guide instructional decisions.
- Provide daily feedback to students regarding their performance and tailor plans to meet individual learning needs.
Fostering a Positive School and Classroom Environment:
- Embody and uphold the school's values, policies, and culture.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff.
- Maintain open communication with parents and share student progress.
- Effectively supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students.
- Participate in essential school events, including staff meetings, open houses, and parent-teacher conferences.

- Set and pursue challenging professional goals annually.
- Engage in giving and receiving constructive feedback from colleagues.
- Participate in both school-wide and individual professional development opportunities.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (required).
- Missouri Teacher Certification or Missouri Substitute Certification (required).
- Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check.
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap.
Compensation: Up to $200 per day for substitutes holding a Missouri Substitute certification.
- Please note that this position does not include paid holidays or extended school breaks. Compensation is based on days and hours worked.
Benefits: For full-time substitutes, upon consecutive employment during a 90-day probationary period, team members may elect to participate in our substitute gold benefits package, which includes $0 deductible medical, dental, and vision insurance.
