Director/Senior Director, Assay Development Position

With a focus on developing and validating ultrasensitive immunoassays, this role will play a critical part in driving the company's mission to revolutionize early disease diagnosis and monitoring.
You will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of high-performing scientists and research associates, defining and executing an assay development strategy, and leading preclinical and clinical validation of assays.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will need to have excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage and organize work around multiple and changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of high-performing scientists and research associates.
- Assay Development Strategy: Define and execute an assay development strategy to align with the company's clinical and commercial goals.
- Preclinical and Clinical Validation: Lead preclinical and clinical validation of assays, ensuring regulatory and quality standards are met.
Requirements:
- PhD in Biochemistry or Related Field: A PhD in Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related life science field with a minimum of 8-10+ years direct industry experience leading a team of scientists specializing in the development of ultrasensitive blood-based protein biomarker assays.
- Prior Experience: Prior experience with immunoassay development should include protein chemistry, antibody screening, antibody conjugation, assay diluent formulation, multiplexing, preanalytical sample processing, scale-up, assay optimization and troubleshooting, analytical validation, and clinical validation.
- Advanced Understanding: Advanced understanding of ligand binding assays and diverse analytical formats and platforms, including electro-chemiluminescence/digital ELISA luminescence/fluorometry-based assays and experience with typical analytical systems.
- Deep Understanding: Deep understanding of protein biology.
- Direct Experience: Direct experience managing a team of junior scientists and providing technical, clinical, and professional development.
- Strong Presentation Skills: Strong presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish collaborative working relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Excellent Project Management Skills: Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage and organize work around multiple and changing priorities.
Compensation: We offer competitive compensation, with a salary range of $180,000 - $220,000 per year, plus meaningful stock ownership, strong benefits, and a great work environment.
