Community Tax Division. Our Community Tax Division is an expanding sector dedicated to effectively serving smaller, less complex clients in a manner that benefits both the firm and our clientele.
Your responsibilities.
Your duties will encompass, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing all facets of annual tax compliance for both business and individual clients, including planning, scheduling, projections, extensions, responses to tax inquiries, research, drafting client memoranda, calculating quarterly estimated payments, and billing.
- Reviewing and approving tax returns for S-corporations, C-corporations, Partnerships, and individuals, ensuring accuracy and identifying potential tax savings and exposures.
- Leading and mentoring staff and interns assigned to these projects.
- Taking ownership of the progress of all assigned projects to guarantee that all client deliverables and statutory filing deadlines are met.
Qualifications.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA, EA, or Bar License is mandatory.
- A minimum of 10 years of recent tax compliance experience is essential; public accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience with S-corporations, C-corporations, Partnerships, and Individual taxation is required.
- Familiarity with Fiduciary, Estate and Gift, and Not-For-Profit tax returns, including private foundations, is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proven leadership abilities within an organization.
- Experience with routine accounting support is preferred but not required.
- Qualified candidates must either reside in or near the Southeast Michigan area or be open to relocating for this role.
- This position offers the potential for flexible scheduling during peak periods, including opportunities for some required hours to be completed remotely. There is also potential for reduced working hour arrangements.
