Job Summary

The George Washington University seeks a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Director, National Capital Poison Center. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in toxicology and experience in managing a poison control center.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Direction
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the National Capital Poison Center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to the community.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the center's operations are efficient and effective.
Programmatic Direction
  • Oversee the development and implementation of programs and services to support the center's mission and goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to address them.
Fiscal and Administrative Responsibilities
  • Manage the center's budget and financial resources, ensuring effective use of funds and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the administrative functions of the center, including human resources, IT, and facilities management.
Outreach and Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to promote the center's services and mission.
  • Represent the center at national and international conferences and meetings.
Accreditation and Quality Improvement
  • Ensure the center's accreditation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance the center's services and operations.
Requirements

Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 10 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Board certified in applied toxicology with pharmacy licensure in DC, MD and VA, or board certified in medical toxicology with physician licensure in DC, MD and VA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MD degree, board certified in medical toxicology, or ABAT-certified PharmD.
  • Prior experience directing a poison control center preferred.
