Distribution Engineer Job Description

Emerge Engineering & Wiring is seeking a highly skilled Distribution Engineer to join our team. As a Distribution Engineer, you will be responsible for managing daily engineering work activities in an assigned HQ's area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, estimate, and coordinate construction of capital and O&M power distribution system projects.
  • Provide superior customer service and prepare and schedule construction of jobs to meet committed service dates.
  • Process all documentation in accordance with compliance requirements.
  • Handle customer inquiries, including power outage complaints, voltage complaints, claims, and assist with Distribution Compliance and Asset Management programs.
  • Participate in the on-call trouble supervision rotation and be available after business hours for local, out-of-town, and out-of-state trouble and storm restoration.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or General).
  • Certifications: EIT (FE) or Professional Engineer's License (PE) in lieu of the above bachelor's degree is a plus.
  • Previous distribution engineering experience is a plus.
  • Distribution and/or related engineering experience with a power utility company is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong technical engineering skills and understanding of power systems.
  • Proficiency with MS office products and other related engineering software systems.
  • Broad knowledge of general engineering and construction principles.
  • Previous knowledge of electrical system operations and distribution systems design (including overhead and underground construction practices).
  • Prior experience in writing and executing switching orders.
  • Working knowledge of ARMS, JETS/JETS Scheduling, Designer/GIS, CSS, Socket, TCMS Web, NJUNS, and Oracle Utility Analytics (OUA).
  • Knowledge of the Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook, Distribution Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book, Franchise Manual, and the financial and business goals.
