Job Summary

As a Protection Engineer at the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our transmission and distribution systems. You will be responsible for conducting studies and analyses to evaluate impedance, short circuit, and relay settings calculations, as well as preparing relay sheets for field implementation and testing.

You will work closely with our engineering team to develop and implement protection schemes and protective relays, and provide technical support and recommendations to field engineers and other departments within MEAG. You will also be responsible for reviewing transmission relay operations, identifying mis-operations, and suggesting corrective action.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct studies and analyses to evaluate impedance, short circuit, and relay settings calculations
  • Prepare relay sheets for field implementation and testing
  • Develop and implement protection schemes and protective relays
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to field engineers and other departments within MEAG
  • Review transmission relay operations and identify mis-operations
  • Suggest corrective action to improve system performance
Requirements
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
  • Experience in power system protection and transmission and distribution systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
