Job Summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Process Control Project Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Technical Services Process Control Group, you will be responsible for leading capital projects from front-end loading to commissioning, ensuring implemented process control solutions and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) designs meet Marathon standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in capital project development activities and coordinate process control and SIS vendor activities for multiple assigned projects.
  • Interface between project team and site process control personnel for all assigned projects.
  • Participate in project PSM activities, including MOC, PHA/HAZOP/LOPA, What if, Alarm Rationalization, etc.
  • Participate in project process controls FAT, IFAT, SAT, and HMI development.
  • Deliver process control narrative documentation, assign DCS and SIS I/O points, configure regulatory controls, alarms, and HMI graphics on a DCS, and configure logic in SIS.
  • Review and approve SIS documentation to ensure MPC documentation standards and GBR site practices are followed, and complete the SIS Functional Safety Assessment (FSA) per ISA 84 requirements for modified or new SIS.
  • Act as GBR Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for documenting and communicating site best practices for the DCS and SIS platforms.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering strongly preferred).
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with the IEC61511 and ISA 84 SIS standards.
  • Minimum 10 years of process control plant experience (Emerson Ovation, ABB Infi90, Honeywell TDC, Honeywell Experion, DeltaV DCS, DeltaV SIS, Triconex, or HIMA).
  • Minimum 5 years of process control systems and instrumentation project engineering experience.
