Position Overview:
This role involves directing, coordinating, and overseeing the daily functions of engineers and technicians within the PPL Enterprise Standards organization.

Accountable for providing direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to assigned staff, the position aims to deliver high-quality, timely, and cost-effective solutions to meet technical and business objectives.

The individual in this role will ensure the technical quality of the team's output and is expected to drive continuous improvement in this area. Decisions will be made in accordance with established policies, procedures, and business plans.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the development and publication of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance Standards for the PPL enterprise, offering technical guidance in areas such as transmission, distribution, substations, civil structures, relays, distributed energy resources, and metering.
  • Lead and manage the organization and prioritization of work group activities, assigning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines. Supervise the daily operations of the Standards staff across all operating companies to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate team members to foster organizational talent and expertise in necessary areas. Provide supervision and guidance to engineers and technicians across various locations.
  • Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional technical and business teams to achieve departmental and company objectives.
  • Assist in monitoring and forecasting the department budget.
  • Develop and manage departmental goals and metrics while promoting a strong safety culture. Drive innovation and ensure alignment with industry trends.
  • Select, train, coach, and develop team members to create self-motivated and effective teams. Assess workload and technical capabilities to recommend resource allocation.
  • Conduct research and analysis on technical and business plans, designs, proposals, and strategies, providing recommendations to support departmental objectives.
  • Promote standardization and consolidation across the PPL enterprise, leveraging innovative solutions and establishing robust change management plans.
  • Manage and lead storm restoration efforts within designated command centers and participate in related training and drills.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and monitor adherence to labor laws where driving is an essential function of the job.
  • Undertake additional duties and initiatives as assigned by senior leadership.

Qualifications:
Education & Experience Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to the electric utility sector. Proven ability to provide technical direction to both technical and non-technical personnel. Knowledge of advanced management theories and practices. Strong judgment, technical insight, and initiative to guide engineers in resolving complex issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
