Our cohesive team is supported by one of the most advanced commercial laboratories for structural and building materials in the United States. We strive to provide not just data, but a solid foundation of assurance for our clients, assisting them in reaching their goals through technical consultation, laboratory studies, failure investigations, and expert testimony.

  • Examine design and construction documents to grasp original design intentions and pinpoint potential issues.
  • Identify the root causes of failures in building components and systems, construction defects, and compliance with building codes.
  • Formulate repair or retrofit recommendations and designs based on investigative outcomes.
  • Draft detailed reports that document observations, analyses, findings, and recommendations.
  • Prepare repair or retrofit plans and specifications as necessary.
  • Act as an expert witness in legal proceedings, depositions, and court hearings when required.
  • Oversee and manage projects, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgetary constraints.
  • Stay informed about advancements in building envelope systems and materials.
  • Explore market opportunities in your area of expertise and engage in business development activities to meet personal productivity goals and contribute to group profitability.
  • Actively participate in professional development and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) or Master of Architecture (M.Arch.)
  • Experience: Over 10 years of experience, particularly in building envelope investigations.
  • Licensure: Licensed Architect in Illinois; holding a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) record and multi-state licensure is advantageous.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, particularly in conveying complex technical information.
  • Technical Skills: Strong background in the design, construction, and performance of building envelope systems. Experience in coordinating and conducting critical façade examinations is a plus.
  • Project Management: Proven experience in managing and leading architectural investigation projects.
  • Business Development: Experience in client engagement, project scope and budget development, and proposal preparation.

Physical and Travel Requirements

  • This position may necessitate work in field or laboratory settings, including potential tasks at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Additional hours may be required.
