Job Summary

Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Centennial is seeking a PRN Certified Scrub Tech to join our team. As a key member of our surgical team, you will be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures
  • Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment
  • Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment
  • Perform sponge, needle, and instrument count pre-operatively and intra-operatively with the circulating nurse
  • Gown and glove surgeons and assistants
  • Assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up-to-date
  • Retain all specimens to be sent to pathology and confirm the source and name of the specimen with the surgeon
  • Transport all surgical equipment to the appropriate cleaning areas and assist in sterile supply with cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets

Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED; completion of a Scrub Technician Program. Certification preferable
  • Two years experience as a Scrub Tech in multiple specialties or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • General familiarity with medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room
