Responsibilities:

The Criminology Department invites applications for two one-year appointments with potential for renewal. Teaching responsibilities may encompass: Introduction to the Criminal Legal System, Criminological Theories, and/or elective criminology courses such as gangs, criminology in film, crime and media, hate/bias crimes, juvenile justice, white-collar crimes, state crimes, cybercrime, and domestic and international terrorism.

The Criminology Department at DePaul University is the second largest major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Located on DePaul's Lincoln Park Campus, the Department provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the various facets of the criminal legal system. DePaul's Criminology program emphasizes critical thinking, strong analytical and writing skills, ethical considerations, and social justice. The major includes three concentration areas: Community Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, and Race, Class, Gender and the Criminal Legal System.

With an overall enrollment exceeding 21,000 students, DePaul is the nation's twelfth largest private non-profit university. While the university is large, class sizes in the Criminology Department do not exceed 35 students. We seek candidates with a proven record of effectiveness as instructors across various courses or teaching environments and the ability to teach at the undergraduate level.

Required Qualifications:

The preferred candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field and demonstrate effective teaching experience in criminology or criminal justice. ABD candidates with significant progress toward dissertation completion, JD candidates with extensive teaching experience in criminology or criminal justice, or MA or MS in criminology, criminal justice or a related field will also be considered.
