DePaul University invites applications for two one-year appointments in the Criminology Department, beginning in September 2024 with potential for renewal. The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses, including Introduction to the Criminal Legal System, Criminological Theories, and elective criminology courses on gangs, criminology goes to the movies, crime and the media, hate/bias crimes, juvenile justice, white collar crimes, crimes of the state, cybercrime and cyber terrorism, and domestic and international terrorism.
The Criminology Department at DePaul University is a leading program in the field, with a strong emphasis on critical thinking, analytical and writing skills, ethical considerations, and social justice. The department offers three concentration areas: Community Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, and Race, Class, Gender and the Criminal Legal System.
We seek candidates with a demonstrated record of effectiveness as an instructor for a variety of courses or teaching environments and ability to teach at the undergraduate level. DePaul University values diversity and encourages applicants who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students, and who can contribute to an inclusive climate.
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field, or ABD candidates with significant progress toward dissertation completion, JD candidates with extensive experience teaching in criminology or criminal justice, or MA or MS in criminology, criminal justice or a related field.
Applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vita, teaching statement, and three reference letters. Applicants may also submit evidence of effective teaching, including student teaching reviews.
