Job Summary:

Woodbridge is seeking a highly skilled Materials Scientist to join our team. As a Materials Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and maturing our database of trim materials, including leather, fabric, urethane, vinyl, carpet, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Benchmark and develop a material database, including interactions during lamination where applicable.
  • Identify, select, and recommend materials based on customer specifications.
  • Work with the product engineering team to identify materials for specific customer applications.
  • Validate new supplier materials and cost reduction initiatives with engineering and purchasing.
  • Support the establishment of specifications for selected materials.
  • Observe or participate in product testing, development, and manufacturing processes as appropriate.
  • Root cause analysis in the event of a materials failure.
  • Create best practices and standardization for material selection and lamination.
  • Help to root cause warranty and in-field failures related to materials.
  • Aid in manufacturing reviews to review against best practices and standards.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related STEM degree.
  • At least five years of relevant experience as a materials engineer, textile, or process engineer.
  • Experience in vinyl, synthetic, and non-synthetic materials.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software and software used in product testing and documentation.
