Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Supervise students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning and/or their mental and/or physical health and/or safety.
  • Assess student accomplishments on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Diagnose learning disabilities and seek assistance from District specialists as needed.
  • Develop and maintain standards of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Eligibility for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets individual student needs.
  • Ability to manage students and multiple tasks.
