Job Summary

This position is responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing of surgical instruments and equipment, including complex endoscopes. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to work independently to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • 60% - Complex Scope/Endoscope Processing: The incumbent will be responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing of complex endoscopes, including those used in GI/Pulmonary and endoscopy medical procedures.
  • 10% - Leadership, Resource and Customer Service: The incumbent will provide leadership and support to the Central Processing team, as well as provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • 10% - Professional Development, Continuing Education and Training: The incumbent will be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and techniques in the field of sterile processing, and will participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification.
  • 20% - Instrument Tracking System and Other Sterile Processing Duties: The incumbent will be responsible for tracking and maintaining the inventory of surgical instruments and equipment, as well as performing other sterile processing duties as needed.
Requirements
  • Certification from the National Institute for Certification of Healthcare Sterile Processing & Distribution
  • At least five (5) years recent experience in a similar setting Central Processing Unit is required
  • One year demonstrated current (within the last two years) experience working with flexible scopes
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated experience adhering to American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommended practices
  • Knowledge of AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with complex/endoscopes
