Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Radiology Support Specialist to join our dynamic team at Nuvance Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, supplies, and equipment to patient care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients via gurney, wheelchair, and bed to the radiology department, maintaining patient comfort, safety, and privacy.
  • Use two patient identifiers when addressing patients, cross-referencing requisitions with patient charts, room numbers, and wrist identification bands for accurate patient identification.
  • Communicate with nurses when leaving the unit with patients and assist technologists by monitoring patients when they are out of the suite.
  • Assist in moving patients to and positioning them on examining tables for procedures, prioritizing patient safety and reducing the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.
  • Practice infection control by disinfecting gurneys, slider boards, and wheelchairs between patients and assist technologists with sterile tray setup.
  • Chaperone patients during breast and pelvic procedures when performed by male technologists and assist radiology nurses with delivering specimens to the laboratory for invasive radiology procedures.
  • Cover the scheduler's position during vacation and sick time requests, prioritizing daily requests from technologists for patient transports and communicating any reasons why requests cannot be met.
  • Maintain established hospital departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement activities, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately with healthcare staff involved in patient care and maintain and model Nuvance Health values.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and perform other duties as required.
Working Conditions

This role requires manual skills, motor coordination, and finger dexterity, with some occupational risk and exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste. The physical effort is very heavy, with the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force.
