Responsibilities include preparing, portioning, distributing, and serving food for both regular and therapeutic diets, as well as ensuring the sanitation of equipment, workspaces, dishes, utensils, pots, and pans.
Additional responsibilities may arise related to the position's functions. This role may involve training and supervising other culinary staff. Maintain a solid understanding of duties to meet the position's requirements. Handle food in compliance with federal, state, and HACCP guidelines. Adhere to kitchen and food safety protocols. Availability to work weekends and holidays is essential, and unusual or extended hours may be required.Key Responsibilities:
Regular attendance is expected, with potential requirements for specific shift schedules, rotating shifts, extended hours, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policies. Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Complete mandatory training as per policy.Assist in the preparation and portioning of food for special diets, adhering to food service protocols.
Prepare scheduled snacks and supplements while maintaining an adequate supply of snack items.
Participate in the safe and sanitary distribution of food in line with food service policies.
Assist in serving food by following established food service procedures.
Ensure proper food handling in accordance with food service protocols, state, federal, and HACCP regulations.
Receive deliveries of food and supplies from vendors as assigned.
Complete necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
Follow sanitation and storage procedures for dishes and food service equipment.
Adhere to required sanitation protocols for cleaning kitchens, stock rooms, food preparation areas, and satellite locations.
Observe safety protocols and practices.
Train or assist in training new culinary staff to ensure a knowledgeable workforce.
Additional duties may include participating in or supporting the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) activation.
Such participation may necessitate an alternate shift pattern or location.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with food preparation techniques, food storage standards, and sanitation regulations. Proficiency in operating and sanitizing food service equipment.
Ability to prepare and serve food, maintain cleanliness in dining, serving, and food preparation areas according to facility standards, and keep accurate records.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Basic math skills applicable to cooking and preparation.
Physical ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Ability to bend, reach, and stand/walk on hard surfaces for extended periods.
Capability to work in varying temperature conditions.
Ability to smell, taste, and see effectively.
Capacity to collaborate harmoniously and productively with colleagues and residents.
