X-ray Supervisor Job Description

At Patient First, we are seeking a highly skilled X-ray Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality patient care and technical performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise X-ray Technologists to ensure all responsibilities are completed and quality work is performed.
  • Function as an administrator and work as an X-ray Technologist as directed.
  • Ensure X-ray Technologists are qualified under state specifications and deliver quality technical performance.
  • Order and communicate with the PACS Administrator as needed.
  • Process images using DR and archive through PACS.
  • Address Physician requests with respect and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with treatment area duties, including triage and patient care, while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain the X-ray Conversation Book, checklists, Quality Control, Radiation Monitoring Records, and State QA Book.
  • Understand and use the Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Medical Records Needing Review, and X-Ray Status Listing.
  • Act as a Patient First representative for the DMS or Medical Director in their absence to ensure smooth operation of the center.
  • Implement safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation, as well as address radiation badge safety.
  • Maintain quality assurance for all X-ray Technologists in the X-ray Department and keep records of all outside studies ordered by Patient First.
  • Obtain quality x-rays using correct positioning, markers, and technical factors.
  • Maintain integrity of all equipment and supplies in the X-ray Department.
  • Submit monthly x-ray staffing schedules and performance evaluations for the X-ray Department.
  • Conduct interviews and training new staff.
  • Ensure all required documents are read and understood by X-ray Technologists.
  • Clean work area, perform biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines, and complete other maintenance assignments as directed.
  • Adhere to established Patient First policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safety of patients when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment.
  • Understand and use the medical record system, including registration, processing of the patient, and medical records and hardware or software problems.
  • Attend staff meetings as directed.
  • Be available as needed, as breaks and mealtimes may be interrupted at any time for patient care and to maintain center operations.
  • Operate, use, and maintain medical and office equipment as trained.
  • Foster teamwork in a positive and professional atmosphere.
  • Provide positive, warm, and friendly service in all interactions.
  • Be willing to work at any center due to a staffing issue, center emergency, or a reduction of work.
  • Complete other duties as directed.
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Registered member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required or graduate of approved Limited Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Licensed, if required in the state of employment.
  • Ability to hear pages, bells, and phone system.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to 7 hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Adequate verbal, written, and typed communication skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Must provide the highest quality medical care and professionalism.
