Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to join our team at Simmons Animal Nutrition, Inc. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for leading a team of front-line employees to achieve production goals and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of production employees to achieve production goals and maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in processing and/or the development of a product or a service.
  • Maintain inventory records and requisition ingredients and/or supplies as necessary to meet delivery schedules.
  • Evaluate materials and products to maintain organizational standards and ensure quality products.
  • Manage and utilize various production reports to review daily production against customer requirements.
  • Interpret, understand, and manage reports within responsible areas such as throughput, yield, etc.
  • Meet production requirements while maintaining appropriate line speeds and efficiency.
  • Achieve all paperwork in accordance with established time frames or record keeping requirements.
  • Promote a safe work environment and meet safety requirements complying with all policies or regulations set forth by Simmons, OSHA, and various government agencies.
  • Foster a continuous improvement culture and ensure operations are being performed appropriately to improve processes and drive out waste.
  • Apply LEAN concepts and procedures to the day-to-day production operations.
  • Achieve quality performance that meets or exceeds all line, department, facility, company, and USDA/FDA guidelines or grading process for a total quality program and customer relations.
  • Communicate at all levels to maximize processing of the highest quality product at the lowest cost possible.
  • Direct and supervise employees' work activities and monitor work performance.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to screen, interview, and hire candidates.
  • Administer disciplinary actions and recommend performance improvement actions in collaboration with the HR Manager.
  • Monitor work performance and recommend compensation decisions based on guidelines.
  • Follow Simmons values to develop and maintain a favorable working relationship with all employees.
  • Promote a cooperative and harmonious environment to facilitate positive employee morale, productivity, and continued improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years related work experience with a minimum of 1 year experience in a leading role included in the 4 years related work experience.
  • Preferred experience within a food processing organization.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource management, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
