Position Overview

Role Summary

The Hydrocarbon Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for conducting assessments of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon or chemical cargo supervision services. This includes, but is not limited to, gauging, sampling, and reconciling transfers from various storage and transport vessels. The role adheres to client requirements, SGS operational excellence practices, and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts physical sampling, measurement, and temperature assessments of vessel and shore tanks using various methods as per company and American Petroleum Institute (API) guidelines.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and executes tasks efficiently, following established technical processes and methodologies.
  • Calculates and documents the quantities of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbons transferred, ensuring complete reconciliation.
  • Completes necessary documentation and reports utilizing SGS proprietary systems.
  • Collaborates with client representatives, customs officials, vessel crews, government agents, and shore facility staff.
  • Maintains consistent communication with office personnel regarding job progress, challenges, and concerns.
  • Stays informed of and complies with the latest industry standards, client expectations, and SGS internal policies.
  • Operates with the utmost ethical standards, adhering to the SGS Code of Integrity and all safety practices.
  • Assists with additional branch duties as required, including back-office support and general maintenance.
  • Performs other assigned tasks as necessary.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • 6 months to 2 years of relevant industry experience (Preferred)
  • Completion of the internal Inspector Development Program Level (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) (Preferred)
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License and TWIC card throughout employment (Required)
  • International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification (Preferred)
