Patient Registration Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Registration Specialist to join our team at Spooner Health. As a Patient Registration Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely registration of patients, handling admissions, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Admissions: Determine if/when the patient was last registered, follow same-day admission procedures, gather/verify patient/guarantor demographic information, obtain signatures, and explain the signing process.
- Communications: Properly greet customers, direct them, handle problem situations, treat customers professionally, receive and route phone calls, and understand paging procedures.
- Office Equipment: Operate computers, printers, postage machines, credit card swipe boxes, and photocopiers/fax machines.
- Daily Work: Review previous day's registrations, handle late-night admissions, enter discharges accurately, and use the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Software: Use EHR, demonstrate understanding of intranet/internet, and Outlook email.
- Other Daily Functions: Show initiative in handling daily mail, prepare call schedules, file Patient Information Sheets, demonstrate flexibility, use sound judgment, and take initiative in requesting payment.
- Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Participate in staff meetings, continuing education programs, quality improvement programs, and quality assurance, attend mandatory in-services, comply with universal blood and body fluid precautions, adhere to personnel and departmental policies, follow HIPAA protocols, and uphold Compliance Objectives.
- Previous computer use, including keyboard and mouse proficiency.
- Preferred experience in Business Office operations.
- Training in Medical Terminology is desirable.
- Experience dealing with the public directly or by phone.
- Familiarity with operating multifunction telephones.
- Keyboard skills of at least 40 WPM or equivalent qualifications.
- Basic math skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public relation skills.
- Conflict resolution abilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Capacity to work under pressure and adapt to changing demands.
- Sound judgment based on established standards, procedures, and policies.
- Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and dynamic environment.
