About the Position: The State of Mississippi is looking for a Television Transmission Specialist responsible for the upkeep of transmitter sites. Key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting performance assessments and diagnostic evaluations on transmission lines and antennas, performing necessary repairs on tower-mounted equipment.
2. Managing power generation and electrical systems, overseeing maintenance contracts and support personnel.
3. Supervising site maintenance, ensuring accessibility and security of properties.
4. Facilitating building maintenance and coordinating with contractors for repairs.
5. Operating and maintaining television and radio transmitters in compliance with regulatory standards, including routine testing and monitoring.
6. Supporting microwave and fiber delivery systems, ensuring operational integrity through regular maintenance.
7. Maintaining emergency alert systems and associated equipment, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
8. Assisting with processing and encoding systems, performing necessary updates and tests.
9. Knowledge of remote control systems and the ability to respond to emergencies after hours is essential.
10. Staying informed on relevant policies and technical standards.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess a high school diploma and 4-6 years of relevant experience in broadcasting equipment maintenance. An apprenticeship in a related field is preferred.
Characteristics of Work: This role requires independence, technical proficiency, and the ability to travel to various sites for equipment maintenance.
