Responsibilities- Assessment and Planning: Performs and documents comprehensive assessments of patients, including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs.
- Care Coordination: Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problems, and detects changes in patient status, re-prioritizing and updating the plan of care as needed.
- Communication: Effectively communicates with patients, families, visitors, peers, and other healthcare team members, documenting all interactions in the medical record.
- Education and Support: Assesses patient and family learning needs, capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn, providing education and support as needed.
- Medication Administration: Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Team Collaboration: Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and patient care conferences, contributing to the development and implementation of patient care plans.
- Performance Improvement: Demonstrates a commitment to quality improvement, participating in unit performance improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of new policies and procedures.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate's degree, technical diploma, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program.
- Experience: One year of professional nursing experience, with preference given to those with operating room experience.
- Licensure and Certification: Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact, and BLS certification with the American Heart Association.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
